The SRFC is proud to announce the debut of a U-19 Boys team in 2007. The squad is currently comprised of players from Chicopee, Wilbraham,
Ludlow, Palmer, Westfield, East Longmeadow and Springfield. As interest continues to grow, the possibility of adding additional sides may well
become a reality. The Boy's & Girl's teams will compete in the newly emerging Massachusetts Youth Rugby Organization (MYRO). The season
schedules will be posted shortly. All teams are looking at a 6-7 game schedule, beginning in April through June. Any athletes wishing to play for
one of the sides is more than welcome to attend practice at the respected location.

All practice schedules are posted on the U-19 News page on the website. More information on each side will also be coming shortly, so stay
tuned!

What is rugby?
Rugby is a fast paced, fun, safe and an exciting sport. Rugby combines the running of soccer, the passing of basketball, the contact of football and the
strategy of chess.  It is a game of possession. One team (15 players per team) advances the ball by lateral passing (no forwards passing allowed), kicking or
running with the ball; while the other team of 15 players tries to tackle the player with the ball to gain possession of the ball.

Rugby:
•        Challenges you mentally and physically – develops you as a person
•        Keeps you fit
•        Has a place for athletes of all sizes and gender
•        Is a full-contact sport – different from football
•        Includes a unique International sporting culture and experience (match socials with opposing team after each match.)
•        Is the 3rd most watched sport in the world short of the Olympics and Soccer
•        Makes you part of something larger than yourself – ultimate team experience (pass backwards to go forwards)
•        Is a cool game and players take great pride in sharing it with others

Our Rugby Club:
•        Very closely bonded, build friendships for life
•        Opportunities to compete in a league
•        Two clubs for area High Schools (u19): Boys & Girls
•        Potential to travel around the country and even other nations
•        Most fun you have ever had!

Trying rugby for the first time?
•        No experience necessary
•        No cuts – everyone gets to play
•        Accepting team, welcomes new players, no cliques
•        Take up a new sport and rise to the top fast!  (All-American and National Teams)
•        Rugby can help you get accepted to the college of your choice
